Today I have made an adition to the flock with 6 Pedigree ewes from the Boradwater flock of Mrs M A Wheal - Starston.
These are all hombred strong ewes and will compliment the flock well.

In adition to these ewes earlier in the year I purchased a ewe from the Lickhill flock - Mr & Mrs S Carpenter - Worcs
a ewe from the Avonside flock Via the Dunmor flock - Scotland
a ewe lamb from the Edingale flock - Mr R Locker - Berwickshire
Blackbrook Fabio a Ram lamb from the Blackbrook flock - Mr & Mrs B Stanley - Derbyshire

Hoping to see what these males and females bring to the flock in 2014

This years show preperations are a little all over the place, with the grass not growing until a few days ago and the costs of all the additional feeds. But however the show season is uppon us once again, Hopefully the South Suffolk Organisers have got my check and are allowing me to enter my stock for a weeks time, the Suffolk show , Royal Norfolk and tendering are all in the pipeline also a new venture althou im only taking a few. Royal Three Counties show is on the list too. So hopefully battles with footrot and scald will be out of the way as the summer gets a hold.

The Suffolk show was the first big county show which I had entered my sheep in, on arriving and seeing all of the other Jacobs in their pens I thought to my self - just go through the motions and see what happens - this is because Ididnt expect to come anywhere. My thoughts were comfirmed in the first class, the Rams, where Hughie did not place. The next class was the 2012 born Ram Lambs where Ben didn't place but Brian came 4th. This meant that I was happy. Flower came 1st and Softy came 3rd just like the South Suffolk which made me even happier. Unfortionatly Bella and Beth didn't place either and Flower came third out of 3 in the Female championship. So this was another enjoyable and worth while show - even though the weather wasnt that great.

The 2012 South Suffolk Show was the first one I had attended and had no great hopes for my sheep. The classes were going pretty slowly but all of a sudden they caught up to us, the MINORITY BREEDS exhibitors. Tups were up first Hughie and Alex were up, Hughie came first and Alex last. Then was the ewes with lambs at foot classes judged in the pens. Flower and her lambs (Brian and Bella) came first with Softy and her lambs (Ben and Beth) coming third. Hughie was awarded the breed championship. so it was a good day in all.
